Service Learning Projects inspire students and support the Sisters of Charity and Seton Hill U

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton's canonization, the Sisters of Charity will reprint a children's book on the life of Elizabeth Seton that was written and illustrated by Sister Fides Glass. Casey Bowser, Archivist for the Sisters of Charity and Seton Hill University came to class to present the projects and returned to give students feedback on their designs.

The other projects can out of Seton Hill’s grant to look at the university's history and see how the students, faculty, staff, and alumni continue to live and expand the ongoing saga today. Students were asked to reexamine the university's role as a Setonian Institution. How have we done that in the past, and how are we doing so in today's culture?

The grant requires that the university publish 3 things: an academic book being written by some faculty members, a magazine that contains creative work by students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and a website that will include performance pieces and other art. There are 5 prompts that the students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to use when creating artwork.

My class designed book covers for an academic book and a website for the Reframing the Institutional Saga project.
